My family, RJ, and I went to the Keystone Ski Resort as a one day trip. Since it was RJ's first time skiing,
it took us 2 hours and 30 minutes to get down the green slope. Also, Keystone in my opinion has longer slopes than any other ski resorts. This picture was taken
at the summit before we took the gondola down to the base because we were tired and couldn't ski anymore D: While my brother and my dad skiied 3 more times, we were at the summit food court trying to feel better from the high altitude. Here is what RJ has to say about his first ski experience:
We left around 6:30 AM and the first thing we did was stop at a Hyundai dealership to get the tire pressure checked. The car ride to Keystone from Centennial was about 2 hours and I probably slept through 80% of it, but the last half hour or so drive through the mountains was gorgeous. Once we got to the ski resort, we went to the rental building to get boots and skis. The boots were so tight that I felt that I had lost circulation in my left leg, but apparently that is normal. Once we finally got out to the slopes, after going on the gondola, I was scared for my life. We started going down and I immediately fell. At that point I knew that the hardest part would be getting back up. It took so long to learn how to orient the skis to not slide when trying to get back on only for me to fall again ten seconds later. After a while, with the help of Sammy's family I began to get the hang of the A formation that is needed to slow down, how to turn, and where my weight should be. It was very scary coming down the slopes and any time I accelerated too fast I would turn and fall because I thought it was not okay to be going so fast. It took me about 2 hours and 30 minutes to get down a slope that would normally take maybe 30 minutes, but at least I made it.
It was a very interesting day overall, and my calves became really really sore.
